Campaign latest

With just over 2 weeks to go, the campaign is getting really busy. Big thanks to those who have already helped me with enevelope stuffing, leaflet delivery, and the most important thing of all, getting out on the doorstep and speaking to people.

Lots of issues have been raised already and I am currently working on parking and transport issues and dealing with anti-social behaviour with the relevant officers at Cornwall Council on your behalf.

If anyone feels they can lend a hand over the next fortnight, I’d really appreciate it. Your help can support a local girl born and bred in Camborne doing her  bit for the community.

Campaign update

The nominations have now been published for the Cornwall Council elections and with just under 4 weeks to go the campaign is really hotting up!

I have now delivered over 7,000 pieces of literature to local residents, letting you know a bit more about me, how to contact me if you’d like me to sort out a problem and my priorities for Camborne.

By the end of this weekend I will have knocked on every door in the ward once and then it will be time to start all over again getting to know you and your wants and needs for the area.

If you’d like to get involved simply get in touch using the contact details on the right of the screen – there is a range of things you can do to help out, from envelope stuffing to leaflet delivery. If you have any skills which you’d like to contribute I am open to ideas and I am also happy to train people up in areas they may be inexperienced in, such as computer work, doorknocking and telephone campaigning. If you are jobhunting or looking for a career change, or want some assistance with developing your confidence, an election campaign is a great way to build up your skills in a short space of time and I would be pleased to supply a reference for anyone who volunteers for the Camborne South campaign.

Thanks and I look forward to knocking on your door or hearing from you very soon,

Camborne South action weekend

Anna and the Lib Dem team were out meeting residents throughout the Bank Holiday weekend. All in all over 1,100 doors were knocked on!

Lots of issues were raised for Anna to tackle over the coming weeks, including the following:

Speeding in the Pendarves area

Tesco’s selling policies in the Tregenna Lane area

Flytipping in the town centre area

Littering and civic pride in the Mount Pleasant area

Untidy hedgerows in the Barripper area

Flooding and littering in the Penponds area

Healthcare in the Redbrooke Road area

You can report any other issues for Anna to deal with using the buttons on the left-hand side of the screen.

Despite the weather being wet and windy, everyone put on a brave face and made the most of the local produce on sale on the stalls and the great Cornish atmosphere.

The Lib Dem office was open all day offering tea and biscuits to chilly Camborners for those times when the rain simply wouldn’t stop coming down!

Anna went to her first Trevithick Day as a baby in a pram and has been to every year since, dancing in the children’s dance whilst at Roskear School.

Don’t forget, next year there will also be a St Piran’s Day festival in Camborne, an idea which Anna put to Camborne Town Council earlier this year.

New Facebook group

I have started a new Facebook group to campaign and get things done in the community of Camborne South. This includes Penponds, Barripper, Pendarves/Killivose and parts of mid Camborne – if you care about what goes on in these areas then search for “Team 4 Camborne South” when you’re next on Facebook and join in the project. Don’t forget to add me as a friend while you’re there!

Intern wanted

I am looking for a motivated intern to assist me with my election campaign for the Cornwall Council unitary elections. They will be taking place in June 2009, I am looking for 1 or more interns to come and help from any time between October 2008 and Polling Day. I can offer free accommodation in a pleasant cottage in village on the outskirts of the town centre and although the post would be unremunerated, I may be able to find you part-time work locally if you need to be supported by an income.

Applicants should be articulate and align with the aims of the Liberal Democrat Party. Please send a CV not exceeding 2 pages and a covering letter detailing how you can help me win.
